The Northern Arctic Federal University is glad to offer foreign students who are seeking to study at a Russian university, but in need of additional training to improve their Russian language skills, a one-year foundation program at NArFU Preparatory Department!
In the fall semester, the students are doing the Russian Course only.
The spring semester includes the Russian Course as well as short-term courses in major subjects depending on your interests and the degree you would like to move on to.
For students with Beginner-Elementary and Intermediate knowledge of the Russian languagehe Foundation program offers an intensive Russian course (fall and spring semesters) as well as a variety of subjects such as technology and engineering, humanities, science, and economics (spring semester).
On completion of the NArFU Foundation Program, the students are prepared to enter a full degree program (bachelor, specialist, master, Ph.D. levels)!
NArFU Preparatory Department offers:
Small groups (up to 8-12 students);

Educational process
The training period for the standard program: one academic year (two semesters).
Fall semester: September – January
Spring semester: February – June
Holidays: all Russian public holidays, two weeks in December-January, nine weeks in July-August.
Studies start from the second week in September. Students are kindly asked to arrive before September 15th of the current academic year.

In the fall semester, students of the Foundation Program have classes 5 five days a week (Mon-Fri) from 10 a.m. and till 15 p.m. (30 contact hours per week over an an18-week semester). In the spring semester, the time schedules may vary according to the selected student profile, but will not exceed 30 contact hours per week.
Every student has full access to all university resources (the University library, the gym, computer classes, free Wi-Fi, etc).
The language of instruction is Russian. Our teaching staff are qualified teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language and subjects and have vast experience of working with international students.
At the end of the academic year, students will take examinations in the Russian language and other subjects. Those students, who have completed the foundation program successfully, will be granted certificates of completion.
The completion of the foundation program allows you to apply for NArFU degree programs (bachelor, specialist, master, and postgraduate studies).
Our Location
The university is placed in the European North of Russia, 1.5 hours by plane from Moscow, so you could easily get to Arkhangelsk from the capital of Russia.
