Foundation Program

The Foundation Program at Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University is designed for students who are academically qualified to apply for admission to undergraduate programs but do not meet the minimum Russian/ Kazakh proficiency requirements. The program offers intensive Russian/Kazakh language and academic skills instruction combined with undergraduate course work. It develops Russian/ Kazakh language skills and ensures preparation for higher education programmes which are offered in Russin/ Kazakh. Students who successfully complete the Sh. Ualikhanov KSU Foundation Program are admitted to degree programs with a strong foundation for academic success.

To be eligible for the Sh. Ualikhanov KSU Foundation Program consideration, you must be academically qualified. Upon successful completion of the Ualikhanov KSU Russian/Kazakh Foundation Program, you will enroll in your selected degree program. Throughout the Language Foundation Program, your progress will be assessed so that you can identify areas for improvement.

The duration of the program is 9 months, starting in October and finishing in June. During the study, students develop their academic skills in reading and writing as well as Russian/Kazakh communication strategies. The program will aid future students of Sh. Ualikhanov KSU to enhance learning success and develop the ability to participate in lectures, seminars, research, tutorials, presentations, group projects and assessments in your degree studies offered by the university.

Apart from the classwork students will be engaged in various extracurricular activities: excursions, visiting theatres and museums, participation in interfaculty events and university sports competitions. The combination of academic and extracurricular work, communication between international students and university students help to establish a friendship, contribute to psychological and cultural adaptation.

Once you successfully complete your foundation year and achieve the required academic grades, you can progress to your degree course. You can choose subject routes depending on your degree ambitions: education, technology, natural sciences, agronomy, jurisprudence.
