Whether a bedroom producer looking to break out, a DJ looking to produce more of your own tracks or even a ‘traditional’ composer looking to broaden your composition skills in the studio, this foundation degree course might just hit the spot. It is a thorough training in creativity and composition; ideas and invention. It demands that you continually reassess the way in which you work as a musician, and expand your technical knowledge and range of production styles. Ultimately, you will be trained to be one of tomorrow’s best creative composers.
The FdA Electronic Music: Production & Composition is validated by Plymouth University and is delivered by dBs Music in partnership with Tor Bridge High.
This two year foundation degree can be ‘topped up’ to a full honours degree and many learners will progress onto the final year of our BA (Hons) Music Production.
Building a portfolio
The modules are a mixture of creative practical workshops, technical experiments, recording technique demonstrations and personal research; the overall aim being to provide you with a portfolio of compositions and projects that you can use to demonstrate your skills as a contemporary musician, composer and/or producer.
‘Hand’s on’ is our middle name! Whilst students do need a foundation of theory to support their vocational practice, it is our belief that students should spend most of their time honing their music production craft, getting practical experience on the very best industry standard gear.
We believe the best creativity is borne out of a supportive and friendly working environment. You will find all our tutors and support staff incredibly helpful in helping you realise your goals. We organise lots of events which all go towards making life at dBs something very special.
This course is for the incredibly focused and ambitious student who wants to enter the industry at the highest level.
