University of Washington Foster School of Business

The Executive Development Program (formerly The Management Program) at the Michael G. Foster School of Business explores each facet of business enterprise from an executive's top-level view. Taught by the University of Washington's nationally ranked Foster School of Business faculty, the Executive Development Program examines fundamental management topics in a nine-month format that focuses on practical business applications.

Program Overview

Created for busy senior managers and executives, the Executive Development Program, formerly The Management Program, is a nine-month, part-time certificate program. The program covers essential business subjects, including finance, accounting, economics, marketing, international business, operations, leadership and strategy.

Exchange best practices with a diverse group of managers and executives from a broad range of industries. Gain confidence in your decision-making abilities by discussing challenges and solutions with knowledgeable peers. Expand your network of business contacts.

Organizational Benefits

The Boeing Company, Microsoft Corporation, Starbucks Coffee Company, Safeco Insurance Company... these Northwest leaders are among more than 440 companies that have sponsored their most talented managers in the Executive Development Program. For the past 37 years, both large and small companies, such as Hos Bros. Construction, Puget Sound Energy and Group Health Cooperative, have discovered that the Executive Development Program is an effective way to provide leaders with advanced business education without demanding substantial time away from work and family.

EDP participation results in better decision-making and evaluation methods, a more enterprise-wide perspective, and out-of-the-box thinking that comes from sharing best practices with leaders in other industries. Managers have an opportunity to learn innovative strategies and processes from top MBA faculty members at the University of Washington Business School and a group of experienced peers.

Since 1970, the business community has sponsored nearly 2,000 participants by underwriting full or partial tuition, ensuring release time one afternoon a week, and supporting their application of new learning at work.

Curriculum

Offering a broad overview of core business topics, the Executive Development Program integrates leadership and strategy skills throughout the curriculum.
