Introduction
At Fort Scott Community College, Environmental Water Technologies are not limited to studying earth's sciences but include a search for solutions for all environmental concerns. FSCC trains professionals to fill the numerous employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors. Our mission is to help environmental specialists develop strategies that preserve the environment and improve the quality of life of one community at a time.
FSCC is one of the few institutions—and the only one in Kansas—where students may earn a degree to become employed in various environmental water technology fields. Partnerships with the EPA, USDA, and the KDHE have enabled this department to meet the future's environmental challenges. In addition to college credit hours, FSCC ET teaches Continuing Education Units, CEU's for the Kansas Department of Health and Education's Certified Water and Wastewater Operators. Education is now available to enable students to gain employment in environmental professions. The one-year certificate requires the completion of any two of the six areas of concentration:
Water Plant Operation
Advanced Water Plant Operations
Water Distribution System Operation
