As the demand for building design has seen a period of rapid growth in Australia in recent years, you will benefit from our focus on the theoretical and practical skills that will enable you to work effectively as architectural draftspersons, CAD Technician or Building Information Modeller in the residential sector as well as the industrial and commercial building and construction sectors.
The Diploma of Building Design allows you to learn the latest sustainable building and construction theories whilst gaining impressive practical skills in graphics required to prepare sketches and working drawings by manual and CAD modelling techniques.
TAFE Illawarra leads the way in sustainable building construction as attested by our win in the 2013 Solar Decathlon China., Here, our students and teachers partnered with the University of Wollongong and won the challenge ahead of 19 other entries from around the globe, being the first team in the history of the competition to demonstrate how to retrofit an existing home.
Course Entry Requirements
- While there is no formal academic entry requirement for this course, for student visa purposes you may be required to show successful completion of an academic qualification equivalent to Year 10 or Year 12.
- Academic IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) 46 or Certificate 3 in Advanced English for Further Study at TAFE NSW or equivalent
