Hunter TAFE is offering a unique English and Building Design pathway package. You can choose to do the courses individually or combined them for a ‘package’ which saves you money and guarantees you a placement.

Semester 1 - English classes (If required)

Hunter TAFE is home to the award-winning Newcastle English Language Centre. This Centre operates 51 weeks of the year with a full range of study options available to all students, even those on visas other than student visas.

This program will run for 20 weeks for a discounted price AUD$5000:00 (AUD$250:00/week)

The program includes:

  • English for Exam Preparation.
  • Cambridge First Certificate (FCE).
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).
  • IELTS Preparation.
  • General English Beginners to Advanced.
  • English for Academic Purposes.

Entry level for this product is a minimum IELTS 5.0 OR Equivalent

Please note: Our English Language Centre can assess English proficiency prior to enrolment.

Semester 2 – 5 Diploma of Building Design

This course is designed for people wanting to work in the architectural and building design industry. Students will learn the theoretical and practical skills that will enable them to work effectively as architectural draftspersons, CAD Technician or Building Information Modeller in the residential sector as well as the industrial and commercial building sectors.

Skills include: drafting, building information, modelling and building construction. Theory including the BCA, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), environment awareness, sustainable building theory and administration.

The course also provides students with a range of skills in graphics and building construction theory required to prepare sketches and working drawings by manual and CAD techniques. Building designers may specialise in residential projects, including new buildings, heritage restorations and additions or renovations or they may also undertake commercial and industrial projects, such as factories, motels, offices, restaurants, retail or service outlets and warehouses.

Individual course cost: AUD$27,000.00
