With the increased focus on massage therapy as an important component of patient rehabilitation, this field has become one of the fastest-growing within the Canadian health care system. ABM College has responded to this growth by designing a Massage Therapy program which prepares students for entry-level employment as massage therapists.

Our Massage Therapy Program at ABM College prepares students for a career within this rapidly growing field through detailed academic study and practical hands-on experience. The academic portion of this course provides in-depth knowledge of human body systems while the technical portion of this program provides insight to the various massage therapy techniques utilized by modern practitioners. Students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct a systematic patient assessment, frame treatment plans, provide effective and safe treatment, and analyze outcomes.

88 Weeks of in-class academic and clinical instruction – Approximately 2230 hours

Program Outline

  • Provide students with the skills, knowledge, and professionalism required to become qualified and competent practitioners of massage therapy
  • Promote student ethical responsibility
  • Develop strong student understanding of the functions and structure of human body systems
  • Develop key student treatment skills, e.g. palpation, which are required for body assessment and framing treatment plans within the scope of massage therapy

  • Learn about human relations, anatomy and physiology and the psychology of the body systems
  • Build a base in theory and techniques, orthopaedic assessments
