TasTAFE teachers work closely with industry to ensure they are teaching relevant, practical hands-on skills that lead
to employment outcomes. Students will gain a range of practical skills in programming, networking, cyber security, service delivery, client support and web development.
The course is a blend of theoretical and practical learning using real-world equipment with real clients. The course has a strong focus on customer service and industry-based technical Information Technology (IT) skills.
Graduates will be ready to gain employment in a variety of IT roles including ICT Security Specialist, Security
Administrator, Systems Administrator, Network Specialist, Network Support and Technology Client Support Officer. Reports into the future job market show that specialised knowledge in IT will be in strong demand over the next five years (source: joboutlook.gov.au).
Pathway to Further Study
The TasTAFE 2-year pathway provides students with hands-on skills to complement further studies in the field.
Successful completion of either the Diploma of Networking or the Advanced Diploma of Computer Systems Technology will give you guaranteed 1-year credit towards the Bachelor of Information Technology, at the University of Tasmania.
Note: students on a pathway to the University of Tasmania will need to meet the English language requirements for the course; IELTS (Academic) of 6.0 (no band less than 5.5).
