Software Engineering

Software is a critical component of almost any automated system in use today, from mission-critical applications on airplanes and spacecraft to modern health equipment, power and industrial plants and gaming consoles. As a result, building software systems for reliability, performance, and maintainability is a vital skill in today’s modern society.

The MedTech Software engineering program provides engineering students with solid training in the theoretical and technical aspects of reliable high-performance software systems. The program also trains students in the managerial aspects of software engineering including project and team management. The Software engineering program is built on a solid foundation in the general areas of hardware and software systems and networks and includes advanced training in software process and management, software architecture and design patterns, and software quality assurance.

Graduates of the software engineering program are in high demand by local and international firms specializing in software development, system integration, migration and maintenance.

Our engineering students are provided with a solid foundation in entrepreneurship and in business management, including finance and operations management. They also receive training in the important areas of engineering ethics, technical writing, and effective presentations.

Training is delivered over four semesters after a common core program of 2 years shared with other Software engineering program.

Two semesters in the final 18 months before graduation are spent in a Coop program working on an approved final project at a local or international industrial partner.

Renewable Energy Engineering

MedTech is the only institution in Tunisia to date to offer a degree in this important and cutting-edge area of engineering. Renewable energy is a broad field of engineering integrating the areas of alternative energy sources, energy efficiency, energy services, facilities management, plant engineering, and environmental compliance.

Our graduates shall be qualified to investigate the potential of renewable energy technologies, solve the technical, economic, and environmental problems associated with renewable energy plants, and audit energy-intensive industrial installations and suggest ways to improve energy efficiency and economy.

Our engineering students are provided with a solid foundation in entrepreneurship and in business management, including finance and operations management. They also receive training in the important areas of engineering ethics, safety regulations and standards, as well as technical writing, and effective presentation skills.

Training is delivered over four semesters after a common core program of 2 years shared with other engineering programs.

The final 9 months before graduation are spent in a Coop program working on an approved final project at a local or international industrial partner.

Computer Engineering

The Computer Systems Engineering program trains students for a productive career in the computing industry. It focuses on the key principles and techniques underlying the design, evaluation, and application of computer systems.

The curriculum covers the important areas of electronic circuits and systems, digital system design, computer architecture, networks, algorithms, and software systems. The focus is also placed on the design of general purpose computers, networks, and embedded and integrated systems.

The engineering Computer program offers students three specialization tracks during their final year: Systems and Networks (with electives in Network security, Cloud computing, and Parallel and distributed computing), Hardware and embedded systems (with courses in VLSI design, Microprocessor design, and Real-time systems), or Robotics and Control (with courses in Control systems, Robotics, and Computer vision).

Because of their broad training in computer architecture, hardware, and software, computer engineering graduates are a great addition to countless industrial firms, design companies, and innovative ventures. They can pursue further graduate degrees in either the area of software or hardware systems.

Admission

Admissions to MedTech are highly selective and we take pride in selecting the best students by identifying merit and potential. While the greatest focus is placed on academic performance, we also value the motivation of our applicants and their willingness to challenge themselves.

That is why we employ an individualized and comprehensive process to evaluate every application.

Find Out about our Admission Criteria for the Engineering Program:

Successful completion of the pre-Engineering two-year program, a “Licence” diploma in a scientific or engineering discipline, a “premier cycle” higher education degree from a HE institution or equivalent.

Our Admission Procedure

  • The admission procedure starts when the candidate fills out the online application form and submits a complete file (see below for a complete list of required documents).
  • The candidate must pay the applicable admission fees (300TND).
  • The candidate takes the English and Math test (if applicable).
  • Upon completion of the test, the Admission Office may schedule an interview with the candidate (if applicable).
  • The admission decision is then communicated to the candidate within a period that does not exceed seven business days.
  • Upon admission, a letter of admission is delivered to the candidate, and a deposit of 1,000 TND is required as an enrollment confirmation. Otherwise, the admission acceptance will be awarded to another candidate.

The English Proficiency Test is waived for the following applicants

Applicants who demonstrate a minimum score in a standardized test as follows

  • IELTS 5.5TOEFL PBT 563TOEFL IBT 70
  • English native speakers
  • Video conference interviews may be scheduled for international students

A candidate who wishes to be admitted to MedTech must fill out the online application form.

Required Documents for the Engineering program:

  • A recent birth certificate in French.
  • A copy of the CIN or passport (for international students).
  • One certified copy of the High School Diploma with the exam report.
  • One certified copy of the academic reports (the last three years).

All the submitted documents remain the property of the SMU. Incomplete files will not be processed.
