Overview

The Diploma in Creative digital Design will teach you how to combine creative and digital skills to create work that is compelling, persuasive and powerful. You'll learn all about typography and layout, as well as how to capture and manipulate images. You'll gain an understanding of the conventional design process and how to use it to create great work including digital packaging, posters, magazines, brochures, ads and more.

Where could this take you?

  • IN-HOUSE DESIGNER

Work as a graphic designer in the creative department of a corporate company e.g. Bank, Insurance or Retail.

  • ADVERTISING GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Specialise in advertising and work in a creative team in a large company, working on creative advertising campaigns.

  • STUDIO GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Work as a graphic designer in a smaller studio with 3-10 people. Work on jobs from start to finish and provide support for others in a team.

  • MAC OPERATOR

Specialise in print and use your technical skills for the pre-press (preparation for print) process, often in large advertising agencies.

Entry requirements

You need to have graduated from the Level 5 Diploma in Digital Design - Web and Graphic, or have a portfolio assessed by the Head of Faculty.

Course components

  • Branding – Find out how branding and identity influence target audiences' views of products and services. Create a range of visual assets for a variety of projects, including print, screen, public advertising, and uniforms. build your understanding of the design process with a focus on branding.

  • Information Design – Design publications which speak clearly to their target audience through a cohesive set of digital and/or printed items. Work with typography, layout and visual components to create a variety of appropriate and engaging deliverables.

  • Product Launch - Work through the process of launching a product. Create a range of deliverables for a target audience; learn about bar-coding, QR codes, product photography, die lines, packaging, and printing on different substrates. Plus investigate how to access crowd-funding.

  • Event – Create the visual and experiential elements of an event through experimentation and research of way-finding, user experience, and the creation of inspired and effective digital and print collateral.

Course content is subject to change to ensure continued industry relevance.

Assessment

There is one summative assignment in each of the four modules. You must pass all four in order to graduate.
