The ever-expanding travel and tourism industry continues to employ more persons worldwide than any other business! A career in this constantly changing, dynamic industry offers many exciting rewards, opportunities, and challenges for the travel professional.

This program combines practical hands-on computer training, along with the necessary theoretical background, in order to experience both the technical and sales skills for a career in travel and tourism. Both Apollo and SABRE, the two main computer reservation systems used in Canadian travel agencies, are taught in our program. Worldwide destinations are studied in all courses throughout the program.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of this program have gone on to work in all sectors of the travel industry, including: corporate/ leisure retail travel, wholesale travel, airlines, car rental firms, tourist boards, foreign exchange, hotels, and even cruise ships. Positions have ranged from travel consultants and reservations agents, to agency managers and owners, to assistant pursers on cruise ships.

• Grade 12 or equivalent OR mature student status (19 years of age and one year out of high school).

• Passing score on the entrance examination.

Note: Advanced Credit may be given for prior education upon submission of transcripts. Challenge tests may be administered.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate and receive a diploma, a student must obtain an average of at least 60% in each course of the program.

A student must complete the hours of the Career and Employment Strategies course and the Practicum/Work Experience in order to graduate and receive a diploma.

Student Success Strategies and Career and Employment Strategies

In addition to learning career-oriented skills, students at CDI
College also learn how to get a job in their chosen profession.This is why every diploma program includes our Student Success Strategies and Career and Employment Strategies courses.

Our Employment Services Department will assist the graduate in resume writing, as well as preparing for job interviews. Our staff is sensitive to current job market trends and the needs of employers in each local market.
