The Network Administrator program is designed for
students wishing to pursue a career administering and
supporting users on networked computer systems.
Network installation, maintenance and management as
well as implementation, and operating computer services
are rapidly growing areas in the information technology
industry. The Network Administrator program will
help students develop the network administration and
computer user support skills required to meet employers'
needs in these areas.
Program highlights include: Windows Server 2003,
Windows XP, Linux, and Microsoft Office.
The Network Administrator program focuses on
preparing students to manage and maintain computers
and network installations in small to medium-sized
organizations. Graduates may successfully compete
for positions such as Network Administrator, Technical
Support Specialist and Help-Desk Troubleshooter.
Industry and vendor certifications have become a
benchmark used by employers in the hiring process.
The Network Administrator program helps students
prepare for certification examinations in four areas:
• Computing Technology Industry Association
(CompTIA) A+ and Network+ certifications
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
• Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
• Grade 12 or equivalent OR mature student status
(19 years of age and one year out of high school)
• Passing score on the entrance examination
In order to graduate and receive a diploma, a student
must obtain an average of at least 60% in each course
of the program.
A student must complete the 25-hour Career and
Employment Strategies course and the 200-hour practicum
component of the program
