The Gold Course is open to anyone over the age of 50 who wants to spend time in the company of like-minded adults. The Course offers a blend of English lessons, social activities, visits and excursions. The course is a 15 hour General English course from 09:30-13:00, Monday to Friday, followed by an afternoon and evening programme. 2 classes of 90 minutes each day. Minimum age 50. Maximum class size 14. As one of Europe’s most historic cities, York, with its rich cultural life is an ideal location for courses for older students. The traffic free centre has a huge choice of bars and restaurants; as well as one of the best selections of shops in the north of England. “Gold-only” Classes We know that students on 50+ courses prefer to be in a class with students of a similar age so we guarantee ‘Gold-only” classes at the following levels: pre-intermediate, intermediate and advanced. The course offers a balance of grammar, speaking, reading, writing and listening. Each Saturday there is a full day excursion. Students on our Junior Courses are automatically enrolled on ‘Homestay Extra’; this includes full-board, a local bus pass and airport transfers. We take extra care when selecting homestay families and always try to help with special requests. Our General English Courses are aimed at adults who want to improve their language skills for educational or professional purposes. Our programme includes a balance of grammar, speaking, reading, listening and writing. Students receive either 15 hours of tuition each week (General English A) or 22.5 hours of tuition each week (General English B). (General English A does not run during the period covered by the Summer Course.) Tuition Melton College welcomes students throughout the year except for two weeks over Christmas. Our General English Courses are aimed at adults who want to improve their language skills for educational or professional purposes. Our programme includes a balance of grammar, speaking, reading, listening and writing. Every student is assigned a personal tutor to monitor progress and to offer encouragement and advice. These tutorials are included in the fees but we do not count them as tuition time! Your tutor will help you plan your study and tailor your learning to suit your needs, this will especially focus on your Melton E-learning account.
