The Intensive English Program (IEP) at NWTC is designed to prepare students for the academic language demands of college-level coursework. The IEP offers two levels of English instruction: Intermediate and Advanced. Students attend class 4 hours daily in Listening/Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Grammar. Students also have access to the language lab for independent study and practice in the afternoon. The IEP instructors have many years of experience and have lived and/or taught extensively in other countries.

IEP Options

Short-term Cultural Immersion (3 weeks) This program is designed to give students an immersive language experience, and the daily schedule is the most structured. The cost includes the 3-credit English Program, Books, Housing, 2 Meals/Day, and Cultural Excursions. This program is tailored for lower-intermediate English speakers. Summer IEP (6 weeks) This 6-credit IEP, although intensive, goes at a slower pace than our Short-Term Cultural Immersion. Students can expect a more traditional U.S. college feel, with classes during the day and more personal time in the evenings and weekends. Students have the option to live in the on-campus housing. This can be a good option for students who are looking to improve their English skills quickly and potentially begin an academic program in the Fall semester. This program is designed for intermediate-advanced English speakers. Fall/Spring Semester IEP (15 weeks) This IEP falls within our regular academic year, so students will be attending classes at the same time most NWTC students take their classes. This is the most traditional path for students, and is... [-]

The Student Professional Development Program is a series of non-credit workshops designed to give business students the skills they need to present themselves in a professional manner throughout their career.

The Student Professional Development Program consists of four workshops: career planning, professional appearance, professional etiquette, and the job campaign. The workshops are a graduation requirement for all College of Business Majors. Students are encouraged to take all four prior to applying for an internship.

Workshops involve professionals from the community. Because every contact students make should form a positive and professional impression, we recommend that students dress in business casual attire. Appropriate attire for men and women may include a polo, button-up shirt or sweater with khakis or dress pants. ... [-]
