The University Experience Program offers you the possibility of experiencing University in Brazil for one semester or a whole academic year.

You become a visitor student and, besides studying the curriculum of your chosen course, you will be offered Portuguese instruction during the first semester of the Program.

Duration and Program Start

You can chose to study in Brazil for one one semester (5 months) or one full academic year (10 months). You can start your program either in mid/late January or late July (for both the semester or year program).

The seminar consists of critical reading and thematic and formal analysis of Latin American stories that best represent the diversity of gender in the XIX, XX and XXI centuries. On the one hand, we will explore the story as a literary genre in Latin America through the theory, techniques and production of so-called "masters of the short story" Quiroga, Cortazar, Borges, Rulfo, Donoso and García Márquez. On the other hand, we analyze the story in direct relation to the literary tradition, social context, the historical moment and specific literature search of each author and movement. We pay special attention, but not exclusively, the writers of the baroque and neo-baroque -Alejo Cuban Carpentier, Jose Lezama Lima, Reinaldo Arenas and Virgilio Piñera for this generation be a turning point in Latin American literature in general. In addition, we will dedicate the last part of the course to the study of short stories written by women Luisa Valenzuela, Cristina Peri Rossi and Zoé Valdés, among others to evaluate the concept of -individual and social identity and multiple masks. The stories will be approached from a historical and social perspective stylistic, aesthetic and structural -aspects theoretical, technical, literary and. Common Educational Proficiency Assessment (CEPA) and External Measure of Student Achievement, (EMSA) are a set of locally-developed standardised tests used for admissions and placement by all federal institutions of higher and further education in the United Arab Emirates: ADVETI, Zayed University, the Higher Colleges of Technology, and UAE University.

The CEPA is produced by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific research as part of NAPO (National Admissions and Placement Office) and EMSA by the Abu Dhabi Education Council. There are two exams for the CEPA and EMSA. The English examinations test basic English proficiency, and the Mathematics measures basic math skills. Both the English and the Maths exams are administered in two formats: paper-based (with scanned answer sheets) and computer-based for the CEPA and computer-based only for the EMSA. English Training Lounge offers full CEPA and EMSA- English training and tuition and can also arrange for mathematics tuition if needed.
