Pilot Training

A Course in Pilot Training is for those candidates seeking a career in aviation. The course is divided into two parts: ground training and flight training. People who are successfully licensed through training may go on to pursue employment with an airline or to seek a higher diploma in Aviation Science.

A person interested in becoming a pilot may want to know, what is a Course in Pilot Training? This field of study is taught all over the world to goals set by international standards. The course itself may take several months to complete. Ground School covers modern aviation theory. Students familiarize themselves with different types of aircraft and multi-engine flight technique. After Ground School, candidates for licensing attend Flight School, wherein they participate hands-on about the science and practice of flight. Students come to understand Standard Operating Procedures and airline philosophy.

The benefits of the course include an in-depth knowledge of contemporary aviation, a Frozen ATLP License (for theory), a CPL License with IR, SE and ME ratings, and the qualifications to move onto a more advanced degree in Aviation Science. The course allows a new pilot entry into the aviation industry.

Pilot Training Courses are offered all over the world. Fees vary from school to school. It is best to contact an admissions office directly for accurate information regarding the costs of taking the course.

Aviation continues to be a growing industry. A number of careers are open to licensed pilots. A course may be a giant step toward employment with a large commercial airline. Sizable and successful corporations often employ pilots to fly their planes for business trips. Charter plane services need pilots to fly private citizens to island resorts and beyond. Remote mail service and delivery is another opportunity for a licensed pilot.

Overview The Institute of Aviation at Parkland College maintains a high level of quality in order to ensure the best outcomes for students. Located in Champaign, Illinois and with the help of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Frasca International, the Institute of Aviation at Parkland College is a leading collegiate flight school in Illinois and the only higher education institution in central Illinois with an aviation program. Located at Willard Airport, approximately eight miles from Parkland College’s main campus, the Institute of Aviation facility houses classrooms, student offices, various flight simulators, and air fleet. The fleet consists of 17 single engine Piper archers, seven Piper Arrows, three multi-engine Piper Seminoles and two Cessna 152s. Career Outlook With the impending influx of pilot retirements coupled with global growth in the aviation industry, there is a shortage of qualified pilots in the U.S. and internationally. In fact, according to Aviation Week, more than 20,000 pilot jobs are expected to open within the next seven years and these are conservative estimates. These jobs needs to be filled in order to ensure that smaller regional airlines can continue to offer service. It is argued that now maybe the best time to pursue and obtain your pilot education and flight training. Parkland’s Aviation Program The Institute of Aviation at Parkland offers an associate’s degree in aviation as well as opportunities for certification as a private pilot, instrument-rated pilot, commercial pilot, multiengine-rated pilot, and flight instructor. The associate’s degree prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree. Associate degree students will sequentially earn the private pilot certificate, instrument rating, commercial pilot certificate, and multiengine rating during the program. There is also the opportunity to earn flight instructor certificates for airplane, instrument, and multiengine. Graduates may enter the workforce upon graduation in jobs such as aerial photography and flight instruction. After completing FAA flight time requirements, graduates will be qualified to become airline pilots. Program Structure For most aviation courses, students meet for approximately two hours a week in a classroom where they will learn about aircraft systems, rules and regulations, and aviation fundamentals. Students also meet at Willard Airport for three 2-hour flight periods a week where they receive hands-on experience flying an aircraft to learn flight maneuvers, takeoffs and landings, and cross-country flight. Aviation courses are offered Fall, Spring and Summer semesters accordingly. Program Entry Requirements TSA requirements for all non- U.S. citizens The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires non-citizens to participate in the Alien Flight Student Program (AFSP). Visit the TSA website for more information. Non-native speakers of English All students who are non-native speakers of English must establish English language proficiency through TOEFL (iBt) scores: overall 85 or higher with minimum 22 listening and minimum 26 speaking. No alternative means of assessment is accepted. TOEFL scores must not be more than two years old from start of program.
Medical Exam Before enrolling and flying an aircraft, students will need to obtain an aviation medical certificate from an FAA-certified aviation medical examiner (AME). There are three classes of aviation medical certificates: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3. Class 1 is the most restrictive; Class 3 is the least restrictive. Aviation medical examinations are conducted by FAA-approved physicians. Parkland College requires that prospective students, at minimum, pass a Class 3 physical examination prior to enrolling for their first course. Any class of medical certificate with a student pilot certificate is acceptable. Academic Assessment To take courses at Parkland College, you will need to place into college level reading, writing, and math.

Epic’s Professional Pilot program is the leading part 141 approved accelerated FAA commercial pilot training course. [+]

Epic’s Professional Pilot program is the leading part 141 approved accelerated FAA commercial pilot training course. This course is designed to take a student with zero flight training experience to the Multi Engine Commercial Pilot level in as little as 6 – 8 months. The focus of this commercial pilot training course is for the student to first receive a strong foundation in general aviation knowledge. Once proficient in the basics a strategic, full immersion program is launched for the student’s particular learning style. The next step is for students to develop their actual flight skills and practice essential safety procedures using real-time simulation in our Frasca Tru Flite and Mentor level 5 field training devices. This combined scenario based training with computer based training allows the student the comfort of learning and making mistakes on the ground. This boosts confidence that they know and can successfully perform procedures and maneuvers before beginning actual flights in the aircraft, saving both time and money during commercial pilot training. Our Professional Pilot program mimics that of major airline training, preparing you for the airline from day one. The WORLD Needs Commercial Pilots Quick The world is going through a massive pilot shortage! Every year Boeing produces statistics concerning the worldwide demand of pilots for the upcoming decades. As you can see, it’s essential that you begin your commercial pilot training now to make sure you take advantage of this incredible demand while it lasts. A bright outlook for the airline industry are purchase orders for more aircraft and the addition of routes. This increase of aircraft and routes means globally airlines are going to need to hire more pilots to not only keep up with the retirement age but the addition of these resources and routes. There is an urgency for flight schools to recruit more student pilots and successfully produce top-quality Commercial Multi-Engine pilots to quickly fill regional airline needs. With pressure to fill open slots, airlines are looking for students that completed their commercial pilot training at a flight school that prepared them for the fast-paced and advanced technical learning environment. This is why Epic has developed our own commercial pilot training programs with the expectations of an airline training program to quickly develop new pilots to professionals. What Type of Commercial Pilot Training Is Recognized by Other Countries? Licenses and certificates issued by the Federal Aviation Authority of the United States is recognized globally by all Civil Aviation Authorities. A particular country might have a slightly higher total logged hour requirement or additional theory but all training validated by the FAA is counted when you co-validate your license(s) in your country. For CAA’s that require additional flight hours or theory we simply add those hours into your course and customize your commercial pilot training. This ensures you return home with everything you need in order to begin applying for your job at an airline. Planning for Commercial Pilot Training Please contact our Admissions Team for more details about our FAA Commercial Pilot training including flexible payment options, discounts, specials, and class seat availability. Candidates who do not pass the initial maths & physics exams/ or who manage only average scores, are required to undergo our Foundation Programme to ensure that they are adequately prepared for the technical level of the programme. At the end of the Foundation all candidates are re-tested and a final assessment is made. [-]
