The programme requires no prior knowledge of trading or financial markets since we start with a beginners guide to financial markets and work from the bottom up. The programme then moves on to look at a day in the life of a trader, before digging deeper into the specifics of fundamental and technical analysis and evaluation of macroeconomic data releases. We also cover the topic of trading psychology and examine the effects this can have on trading performance.

Starting with the building blocks of risk and return, the seminar discusses building quantitative strategies, assessing and controlling investment risk, implementing strategies, and minimizing trading costs. Participants will also tackle a case study designed around the use of portfolio software for asset management. The case study will illustrate the various methodologies presented during the program, including the use of factor models for asset management. Our Investment Management Programme focuses on topics where research on financial instruments and portfolio management provides important insights to investment professionals. The programme is structured over three terms with ten evenings per term (Tuesdays).
