This is a volunteer teaching placement designed for deep cultural immersion and exchange. Both Language Buddy and host family are volunteers. They exchange their languages and cultures instead of paying rental fee or tuition fee. This is a perfect chance to know different people and different countries. It is also a valuable opportunity to make life-long friends,have the chance to visit the host's working company or even work there, which means much more than just renting a room. This program offers Volunteer tutoring position with a local host family and teaching experience in China. Placements all around China, participants can stay in different cities and will be provided full board by the host family. Minimum stay is 2 weeks. Host family welcome you to stay as long as 12 months. AU PAIR PROGRAM You will be expected to spend 30 hours per week as an Au Pair: taking care of the children, escorting them to school, playing and teaching them, etc. Make sure you are able to commit to at least 3 months as an au pair. We can accept au pairs in China year round for durations of 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.You can get a stipend of $400 US and 20 hours of language classes per month. You will be encouraged to make connections between the policies and issues examined and developments within their specific curriculum fields and areas of professional interest. In the process of analysing and evaluating the links between theory and practice, curriculum design and learning policy, you will develop and investigate a particular topic or field of interest as a basis for the module assignment. On successful completion of this course you will be awarded a certificate of credit for 20 credits at Level HE7. The Trinity Cert TESOL is a qualification suited to those wishing to teach English as a second language, but possess little or no experience in doing so. This programme equips students with the basic skills and knowledge required for ESOL teachers. The programme also gives students a firm foundation for self-evaluation and opportunities for further professional development. It is also suitable for trained teachers who are not trained in TESOL. The Trinity Cert TESOL can be taken as a stand-alone course, or as part of the Graduate Diploma of International Studies (GDIS). Details of each of these can be viewed below: Stand-alone course structure There are two parts to the course, the first being a Distance Education component, the second an on-campus course. The Distance Education component consists of a series of study guides with the accompanying tasks based on the three set texts. Trainees must complete this extramural study before they start the on-campus programme. The on-campus component is a five-week intensive course in which the syllabus is covered by a series of lectures, seminars, and workshops. Teaching practice is integrated by relating the course components to practical teaching of various ESOL classes. Entry requirements Bachelor's degree preferred Trainees who are non-native speakers of English must have minimum level of English equivalent to IELTS 7.5 across all 4 bands. Trainees are selected by interview and a pre-course English language awareness task Course dates Applications are currently being taken for the following courses: - June 1st 2016 - July 5th 2016* Numbers are limited to 14 trainees per course. Applications should be made at least eight weeks in advance of the starting date of the course because of the distance education component of the course. *Courses are offered dependent on a minimum of eight registrations. **There may be a few days difference from the date set. Exact dates will be confirmed around four weeks before the start of each course IPU Graduate Diploma of International Studies (GDIS) The Trinity Cert TESOL can also be taken as part of the one-year GDIS programme. IPU New Zealand Trinity Short Courses IPU New Zealand offers short-term intensive training courses for in-service teachers of English as a foreign language. Our programmes are fully customised to the needs of the teaching professionals that choose to update their knowledge with us. Our programmes are based on the CertTESOL requirements developed by Trinity College London, as well as on our extensive experience in providing EFL teacher training programs for groups such as those sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Vietnam, Tianjin University, China, Prince Royal College, Thailand and many more. Our courses also provide overseas teachers with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the English language, get acquainted with unique New Zealand culture and to gain a wealth of new teaching ideas and materials for use in the EFL classroom. Applicants may enrol for courses beginning on 16th March, 11th May, 6th July, 27th August, or 5th October 2015. The actual dates can be negotiated to a certain extent with the course provider. Early Childhood Education provides students with the qualifications and methods necessary to present a wide variety of activities to develop a young child’s imaginative, creative and artistic abilities. This program will provide an overview of the field of early childhood education, its historical and theoretical origins, and the day-to-day work and responsibilities of professionals working in this field. Students will learn to identify the critical issues related to children’s health, safety and nutrition. In addition, the program will aim to promote safety practices, risk management, strategies for nutritional balance, and overall good health and well being. This program will provide students with the necessary skills to work in a variety of child care services. They are employed in child-care centers, kindergartens, nursery schools, agencies for exceptional children, and other environments where early childhood education services are provided, or they may be self-employed. Example position titles may include child care worker, daycare worker or early childhood educator.
