An interior designer creates a plan to make a living space safe, functional and attractive. In order to accomplish this, the interior designer must take many different elements under consideration. This includes combining different colors and textures together as well as utilizing lighting and furniture in a method that draws interest while remaining functional.

Although interior designers are commonly associated with the design of home interior, they are also utilized in a number of other settings. These settings include airport terminals, offices, shopping malls, theatres, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and schools. Interior designers that help design commercial spaces are also concerned with finding ways to help increase sales or to increase productivity, so the business can be more successful.... [-]

Scale models are used primarily for promotional purposes to 'sell' a structure or proposed development. The skill required to visualize and manufacture such models is an art mastered by few. This course includes; understanding scale, the various types of architectural models, tools, equipment and materials needed, how to use them, and finally building methods and provides the basics for an individual who would like to specialize in this area.

This course will give you a good introduction to the built environment. Skills taught include the following: an introduction to technical drawings, such as layout and orthographic projection, and an understanding of construction methods. Properties and characteristics of materials frequently used within the built environment, national building regulations, and basic design concept development methods and application. Project management skills such as task management, client management, milestone tracking and contingency planning. As well as visual Representation Techniques using 2 and 3-dimensional methods. Lastly, the course will address communication with team members using project plans or specifications.... [-]

The Built Environment and its associated professions are largely focussed on project management, logistics, and quality assurance. Anything that you have to do that has a clear starting and completion point is Project Management. True professionals in the public and private sectors simply have to know how to practice as Project Management professionals. This Course includes: what project management is all about, the five dimensions of a project, the project life-cycle, who is involved in a project and the project plan.
