The European Aviation Safety agency (EASA) regulates all aviation activity in Europe. Engineers are licenced in the same way as pilots and air traffic controllers. An Engineer who is fully licensed can certify work, which has been performed on an aircraft, and return it to the skies. Air Service Training Ltd. in Perth Scotland in cooperation with Keilir Aviation Academy has set up a local field office at the Keilir location in Ásbrú in Reykjanesbær where courses for certified Aircraft Engineering takes place. AST is approved by the UKCAA (United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority).
This is a 5 semester accredited program for Aircraft Engineering ´Approved IR Part 66 Category B´ which is both theoretical and practical course including apprenticeship for Aircraft Engineers. The course follows both the curriculum published by EASA according to the European publishing of certificates and AST, which is professionally responsible for implementation and quality of each course. PART 66 BASIC TRAINING

This unique two-week course in the U.K., for boys and girls (14-18 years), will give an insight into what it is like to work within the aviation industry. They will experience many aspects of life as a pilot, including flying lessons on light aircraft, Boeing 747 simulator, and emergency training with British Airways. Also visits to aviation museums, airline headquarters as well as some exciting recreational activities, sightseeing in London and Cardiff. The students will stay in the halls of residence of Brunel University in London, where they will also have English lessons most days. There will be some talks with pilots and other airline professionals as well. This is a really good way to help young people to decide whether or not they would like a career in aviation and is a wonderful experience for the participants. They will go home with improved English language, flying experience, a broader outlook on life having spent time with other kids from around the world, not to mention having a lot of fun during the two weeks. Each student will have three flying lessons of 1 hour on different days* The flying school is fully approved to teach pilots for the European (EASA) Private Pilot's Licence and Light Aircraft Pilot Licence. Scheduled flight training courses commence quarterly, in January, April, July and October. Special intakes may be offered on request. We offer training to local and international students, and can offer accommodation at our Orly, Ukunda and Malindi stations. Students in Nairobi normally find their own accommodation, but we are able to recommend a number of hostels close to Wilson Airport.
