As a student in Vancouver Film School’s Sound Design for Visual Media program, you’ll live and breathe audio for one full year. You’ll focus your education around the sounds that make up the entertainment landscape, from the mundane to the otherworldly. You’ll work in industry-grade facilities, which include an Avid ICON D-Control ES dual-operator system, and learn from a faculty of accomplished film, television, and game professionals as you develop the skills and experience to launch your career. The Sound Design for Visual Media program concentrates on two main career fields: post-production sound for film and television, and game audio (sound for video games).
Post-Production Sound for Film & Television
There are many different career paths in post-production audio for film and television, including:
• Assistant Editor • Editor • Room Tech • Recordist • Re-recording Mixer • Foley Walker • On-set Mixer • Sound Designer
Many of the positions in Game Audio are similar to Post-Production, however there are some unique roles, including:
• Audio Artist • Audio Lead • Audio Director • Sound Designer

Successful completion of the VFS Foundation Visual Art & Design program

A maximum 500-word letter of intent on why you wish to take the Sound Design program. This should detail your passion for Sound, and why you feel you would be successful in the industry. Detail any previous experience in music or sound recording, sound mixing, etc. Outline why you feel you can be successful in sound design.
