The purpose of the IELTS Mastery is to prepare students for the Academic version of the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam. It covers all four test modules; Listening, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, and Speaking. This course gives students the opportunity to specifically target each macro-skill, as well as develop grammar, academic vocabulary and writing skills in order to obtain their target IELTS band score and move on to their academic goals either through direct entry into university or through ILSC’s University Pathway Program.
IELTS Mastery Levels:
The IELTS Mastery is offered at 6 levels each designed to help students target and achieve a specific IELTS level. All students (including current ILSC students) will be required to take a test to determine their current IELTS level in order to be placed in the appropriate level. Each IELTS level is offered over up to 3-course sessions (12 weeks); students will advance to the next IELTS level after 1, 2 or 3 sessions depending on their ability.

ENGLISH FOUNDATION/ COMMUNICATION
The English Foundation course focuses on the core languages skills you need to build a solid English foundation. These levels focus on developing communicative ability in English, including core listening, speaking, reading and writing with integrated grammar and vocabulary. In the English Foundation course, you will improve your: confidence communicating in English in a variety of everyday situations in small group activities and lively classroom discussions; speaking fluency and accuracy; listening, reading and speaking for daily communication, discussions and presentations; writing skills for well-structured sentences; grammar and vocabulary in context; productive grammar and functions in daily use; active vocabulary for a wide variety of themes.
Our Cambridge English PET preparation course will help prepare you for success on Cambridge’s Preliminary English Test. The PET tests whether you have mastered the basics of English and have practical language skills for everyday use. At this level, you should be able to read simple textbooks and written materials in English, take notes in a meeting, write emails and letters on everyday topics, and understand opinions and mood in both written and spoken English.
The Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) is the third level of the Cambridge exams in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). FCE is designed for learners whose command of English is adequate for many practical everyday purposes, including business and study. Successful candidates will have a wide grasp of vocabulary and should be able to construct an argument and use appropriate communication styles for a variety of situations. They also need to show an awareness of register and of the conventions of politeness and degrees of formality as they are expressed through language. The Cambridge FCE course is focused towards the official examination. The course is designed to maximize use of materials and practice opportunities. Your abilities are evaluated at the beginning of the course, and practice tests measure your progress in specific skills.
FCE is recognized by many universities and other educational institutions as proof of intermediate level English skills, and these institutions accept it as meeting part of their entrance requirements. An FCE certificate is also recognized by employers throughout the world.
The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is the fourth level of the Cambridge exams in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It is an advanced exam. Although the level of language skills required is not as high as for the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, CAE recognizes the ability to communicate with confidence in English and deal with most aspects of everyday life. CAE is seen by institutions of higher education in many countries as proof of adequate language skills for courses taught and assessed in English. Almost all universities in the United Kingdom and a growing number in the USA recognize CAE, as do many employers throughout the world (a list of institutions and employers that recognize CAE CAE is available online). Studying for CAE helps learners to improve their language skills and use them in a wide range of contexts. The examinations are based on realistic tasks and indicate the ability to use the language in practical situations. Successful candidates are able to participate in meetings and discussions, expressing opinions clearly and are able to understand and produce texts of various types, including business letters and reports. They will also be aware of the different styles of English appropriate to different situations.
Each session, students will have their communication skills assessed, and will receive a student progress report. They also have the option to sit a TOEIC test. Nighttime students can also join school activities and events just like the Daytime students.
Classes run from 4:45–9 pm with a 15-minute break. Schedules vary depending on program and location.
