The overall aim of the European Projects English course is to improve significantly the quality of students’ written project proposals to meet theexpectations of professional proficiency-level (C2) readers of English. This will be achieved by the development of appropriate knowledge, skills andtechniques, which can be applied to advantage in various written assignments. The course has been designed for professionals who need to use Englishaccurately and appropriately in order to communicate successfully with international project partners, write effective project proposals and submitofficial documents to the European Commission commensurate with the standards of the EU. The course will cover aspects of developing an appropriateformal style for both oral and written communications, expressing and linking ideas in writing, synthesising information to arrive at a persuasive andcoherent written conclusion, and acquiring the specific EU project proposal vocabulary and formulae needed in order to submit a successful project.Students can also expect to improve their wider communication and presentation skills. The course also includes a pre-arrival task concerning thelanguage experience and the project ideas of the students in order to tailor the course according to their general background.
