Aim of the Course

The aim of the course is to train pilots to the level of proficiency necessary to issue a CPL (H). The CPL is the required license should you wish to fly helicopters as a career. The Horizon CPL (H) course is available for ab-initio trainee pilots. It is designed to take students from zero flying hours all the way to the issue of a GCAA CPL (H) license with no previous flying experience required.

Syllabus of the Course

  • Theoretical Knowledge : 450 hours
  • Flying Training : 137 hours (Minimum)
  • Duration of the Course : 53 weeks (Minimum)

Structure of the Course

The CPL course is a full time training program, consisting of computer based training and classroom training. The aim of the ground school is to equip prospective pilots with aviation theory in order to retain and apply this knowledge in flying. The theoretical knowledge syllabus of the CPL (H) Integrated course covers the following subjects:

Entry Requirements

  • GCAA Class I Medical Certificate
  • Minimum 17 years of age (18 years at the time of license issue)
  • High School Grade 12 or equivalent and demonstrate a good understanding of Mathematics and Physics
  • Proficiency in English is expected - ICAO Level 3 before commencing the course and ICAO Level 4 at license issue
