An increasing amount of today’s consumer, industrial and business products incorporate optomechanical systems. These are essential to virtually every industry including defense, medical, clean energy, nanotechnology, automotive, electronics, communications, entertainment, computers, and consumer products.

The course will provide students a comprehensive overview of all aspects related to the construction, design, operation, and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Students will develop the requisite knowledge and skills to interpret, design and troubleshoot simple hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.

A blend of human factors engineering and mechanical engineering, students in this certificate program will learn the fundamentals of design in both fields and apply them to the design of assistive devices to address real-world problems.

In this program, students prepare for a career as a Marine Engine Mechanic, Marine Engine Apprentice or Marina employee working on recreational boats in the Marine Industry. Students develop a concentrated understanding of marine and watercraft systems that includes gasoline and diesel engines, fuel management systems, engine electrical systems, marine direct current electrical systems, steering and hydraulic systems, drives, and propulsion systems. A significant hands-on component allows students to develop practical and technical skills to meet the current needs of the Recreational Marine industry, and provides a basis to respond to emerging trends in the field. Finally, students become effective communicators and problem solvers who have an awareness of environmental issues, effective customer service, and basic business operations. Upon completion, the graduate may return for additional technical training and specialization such as Mercury Marine and The American Boat and Yacht Council Certification courses.

The Mechanical Techniques - Plumbing is a one-year, two-term Ontario College Certificate program that covers the Level I in-school curriculum for the Plumbing Apprenticeship. Graduates will have an understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the plumbing trade and become familiar with the associated tools and materials in accordance with industry safety standards and the Ontario Plumbing Code. 

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology is the latest nationally accredited qualification that provides training in the skills and knowledge required to service, diagnose, and repair light vehicles. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.

They are responsible for diagnosing difficult faults and must be able to use highly technical diagnostic equipment and have a high level of understanding of vehicle and machinery systems.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. After successfully completing the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis, students, will be able to work in the following job roles.

Enter the automotive service and repair industry with this qualification. This course teaches you a broad range of skills that can be performed on light vehicles such as how to inspect and service engines; how to test, charge and replace batteries; and how to jump start vehicles and carry out general servicing operations using specific tools and equipment.

This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of heavy commercial vehicles within the automotive service and repair sector. Training and assessments are conducted in English. Applicants must possess sound written and spoken English skills. You will be required to complete a Language Literacy, Numeracy test paper as part of an enrolment interview.

The technician/manufacturing associate will develop foundational skills and understanding in electronics, robotics, motors, motor drives, and programmable logic controllers. Basic troubleshooting strategies will be developed on an automated manufacturing line.

This is a basic module that trains participants as inspectors, CRS and ARC signatories of Aerospace Overhaul/Repair workshops.
