We offer teaching courses for those who are looking to teach English to Speakers of other Languages or for those who would like to teach in the lifelong learning sector. All programmes will enable students to progress towards Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) and open the gate to employment in the teaching of adults.
On the course you will receive instruction on methods of teaching language and the analysis of the English language for teaching purposes. Teaching practice is an integral part of the course and you will teach 6 hours at two different levels. Your teaching will be observed by your tutor and fellow trainees.
After teaching you will be given verbal and written feedback and your tutor will support you in planning your next lesson. Assessment on the course is based on your teaching practice and 4 CELTA written assignments.
These assignments will be on the practical aspects of teaching and all together require no more than 4,000 words. In order to be successful on the course you must attend at least 88% of the course, complete all the assignments and reach the required standard in your teaching practice.
