Full Time students at Level 4 will study a total of 120 compulsory credits during the 2014 - 2015 academic year. Part-time students will normally take the 'TH' modules in their first part-time year (timetabled Monday and Tuesday), and the 'TC' modules in their second (timetabled Wednesdays).

Module Title (Module segments)

Biblical Survey

(Old Testament Survey and New Testament Survey)

An introduction to the Pentateuch, History, Prophets, Wisdom and Psalms. Also, an introduction to the life and teaching of Jesus in the NT gospels, the rise and witness of the church in Acts and the NT letters. Introduction to some critical methods used in biblical studies.

Introduction to Christian Doctrine

A survey of Christian doctrine, covering at an introductory level, topics such as Creation, Sin & Evil, Redemption etc, and also provide a basic account of Christian beliefs, pointing to the interconnections between different doctrines.

Bible and World

Uses biblical literature to explore several themes such a God and the word, revelation, humanity and sin etc; and to engage with issues posed by the contemporary world and culture, such as suffering, wealth and poverty, family and technology.

Relational Theory

Provides a Biblical view of what it means to be human and a comprehensive study of the ‘REMA' counselling model, as developed by the counselling team. This is then shown in a relational, contemporary and developmental context by comparing it to other models e.g. Christian, non-Christian and non-western contexts.

Relational Practice

Gives students the opportunity to apply their theoretical understanding of the REMA model and its exploration of four care issues central to humankind (relationally, embodied personhood, meaning-making and agency) to a series of commonly encountered problems in counselling situations. Skills and professional practice issues are introduced via a series of lectures and practical group work.

Relational Growth

This integrative module focuses on spirituality and its impact / application for personal and spiritual growth. Personal awareness is fosted through personal counselling and groups, which are led by a facilitator and involve reflective process and a variety of practical / creative / spiritual tasks.
