Why choose BTEC?

When combined with academic learning in a school or college (or as a stand-alone course in further or higher education), a BTEC develops a range of practical knowledge and skills which help students to prepare for – and progress in – their chosen career.

For students with aspirations to attend universities such as Oxford and Cambridge, A-Level qualifications remain the gold standard, but a BTEC qualification is accepted by 95% of UK universities.

Eight other units come from a list of more specialist areas, including finance, management, promotions, market research, business enterprise, and human resources.

  • Give presentations
  • Produce reports
  • Work in teams
  • Develop their communication skills
  • Study a wide range of business topics.

Sample BTEC timetable

BTEC students can choose to take an A-Level course alongside the BTEC programme. Many students choose this option, which allows them to gain the qualifications they need in the shortest amount of time.
