Students interested in studying a technology or science-related field may want to consider pursuing an Associate of Science. This program typically takes two to three years and prepares students either for entry-level work or for a four-year degree.

What is an Associate of Science in Sport? This program provides introductory knowledge into a many sport-related topics. There are a variety of programs available, and students should choose one that fits with their interests. Examples of curriculum include athletic training, sports management, sports medicine, exercise science and performance training. Some of the classes that may be offered include anatomy, physiology, nutrition, sport therapy, exercise training and sport performance. Students may work with 3D video analysis, gait analysis methods, anti-gravity treadmills and other technology as part of their education.

An associate’s degree in sport is beneficial for those who want to work in the sports industry but are not exactly sure in what capacity. The program gives them the opportunity to take a number of different classes to see what they would like to pursue in terms of further education.

When debating which program to choose, cost is often a big determinant. Because costs can differ a lot from one school to another, students should make sure that they find out exactly what the financial requirements are at each one before applying.

There are many different career paths available for those with a sport education. Examples of job titles include athletic trainer, fitness director, sports scientist, sports photographer or journalist, recreation worker, recruiting scout, physical therapist, sporting event coordinator, sports psychologist, referee and statistician. Those with a background in sports may choose to coach or teach at a variety of levels.
