The associate of science degree program provides students with a broad academic education to prepare them for the workplace and for upper-level university study. The degree requirements for the associate of science may be met through LCCC’s university transfer courses or by taking university transfer courses at other recognized colleges and/or universities. Since requirements at transfer institutions vary widely, students should consult the catalog of the transfer institution and plan their program with an advisor.

The program emphasizes the need to understand human behavior through critical thinking and scientific endeavors as well as the importance of practice that is informed by science. Students will gain knowledge of current theory and data in the science of psychology, including research and analytical skills to critically evaluate and conduct ethical psychological research. They will develop written and oral presentation skills sufficient to effectively communicate psychological information, enabling them to better serve the college and the community as informed and concerned citizens. The Richard Bland College of William & Mary Global Student Success Program (GSSP) is equivalent to the first two years of a bachelor’s degree program.
