The Associate in Science and Arts degree fulfills requirements of the IAI General Education Core Curriculum, allowing for a smooth transition to any of the 100+ participating Illinois institutions. After successful completion of this degree, a student can generally transfer with junior status. It is the student’s responsibility to work closely with an advisor so that electives are appropriate, transferable, and applicable to the student’s major at the transfer college or university.

At the same time, they complete general education courses required for transfer to upper-division colleges.
They decide their future educational objectives: internal transfer to another MVCC program, or external transfer to a four-year college in their chosen field. This program is ideally suited to students who are unsure of their goals or those who wish to explore career options. Any student admitted to MVCC who is not admitted to a particular curriculum, or who does not elect to enroll in a specific curriculum, will be matriculated as a General Studies student. If students are not ready to enter courses because they lack the necessary background, they are asked to take developmental courses first....

The Associate of Science (A.S.) is intended to be a transfer degree. However, there are certain major areas of study in which the student may not be able to take all the courses necessary to transfer with junior standing. Please contact an advisor for more information on this degree program. A.S. degree requirements include satisfactory completion of at least 90 approved credits with a 2.0 cumulative GPA. At least 15 college level credits must be earned at the Seattle College awarding the degree.

The Richard Bland College of William & Mary Global Student Success Program (GSSP) is equivalent to the first two year of a bachelor’s degree program. The GSSP consists of for-credit coursework and provides an academic and cultural bridge from your high school experience to studying at a U.S. university.
