After completing secondary education, many students choose to earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree in lieu of or before obtaining a bachelor’s degree. It typically takes students two years to earn an A.A., and most choose to do so at a community college, vocational school, or technical college.

What is an Associate of Arts in Education? An A.A. in Education is a liberal arts education that typically provides students with the necessary tools and information to teach professionally. Education students may develop a basic knowledge of educational theories and classroom best practices. Program participants also often refine their communication and observation skills, develop personal philosophies of teaching, and gain proficiency in the use of educational technologies. Depending on their chosen specialization, education students may also become experts in areas such as early childhood development and adolescent development.

Students have many reasons for electing to earn an Associate of Arts in Education. Program participants are given many opportunities to improve their organizational and communication skills, as well as to learn about the growth of children. They’re also trained to become compassionate educators.

Students have a plethora of institutions to choose from when deciding where to pursue an A.A. in Education. As costs vary widely from school to school, it is best to thoroughly research the options and to have clear goals in mind while doing so.

After obtaining an Associate of Arts in Education, program participants can expect to find themselves in high demand for a number of positions. Many education students go on to work as teacher’s assistants, preschool teachers, or child-care workers. Others choose to pursue higher degrees and go on to have careers as high school teachers, college professors, tutors, instructional designers, corporate trainers, and education directors.
