Program Description

The mission of the Sierra College Business Department is to provide a quality business education that prepares students for educational and career success.

Engaged in principles, theories, and practices of leadership and management, the Business student prepares to enter the worlds of commerce and public administration or to transfer as a junior to a university. In management and general business courses one learns about the behavior of organizations and of the skills for effective leadership, decision-making, and administration. More specialized courses include accounting, law and mathematics in business, the fundamentals of profitable investing, methods of marketing goods and services, or the principles and practice of real estate.

We offer many different degree or certificate programs for you to choose from.

What to get an internship or job?

Students are encouraged to register in and use Sierra Job Link to connect with local employers for jobs and internships. This service is free to both employers and students and an excellent way to find out about many types of career opportunities. Students can also post resumes, track their job leads and also be apprised of other career-related events both on and off-campus. More information on the Career Connections web pages.

Business Administration for Transfer

AS-T Degree

Business Administration is designed to provide a broad knowledge of the functional areas of a business while developing managerial skills, communication skills, technical abilities and decision-making capability. Students will analyze and critically evaluate information to solve business problems, evaluate and use appropriate technology in the changing business environment, analyze ethical and social issues in business situations and make business and economic decisions that reflect professional responsibility.

The Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer degree (AS-T) prepares students to transfer into the CSU system to complete a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Students completing the Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer degree and meeting the CSU minimum eligibility requirements are guaranteed admission to the CSU system, but not to a particular campus or major. Upon transfer, students will be required to complete no more than 60 units to earn a bachelor’s degree.

To earn the Associate in Science in Business Administration for Transfer degree, students must complete 60 CSU-transferable semester units with a grade point average of at least 2.0, including:

  • completion of the major requirements with grades of C or better; and
  • certified completion of either the California State University General Education Breadth pattern, or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum.

It is highly recommended that, prior to transferring, students complete courses that satisfy the CSU United States History, Constitution and American Ideals graduation requirement. In all cases, students should consult with a counselor for more information on university admission and transfer requirements.
