An associate degree can serve many purposes. Many individuals choose to earn this academic degree to help them land a successful job in the workforce or to bridge the gap between academic studies. Most programs can be completed within two years, depending on the institution and field of study.
What is an Associate Degree in Education? This program primarily focuses on helping students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to teach various subjects. There are several specialties within the program students can choose to study, including elementary, paraprofessional, and early childhood education. Some of the courses offered may cover pedagogy, curriculum studies, literacy and language, learning-environment management, technology in education, educational psychology and diversity in the classroom. Through the classes, students can learn how to organize lesson plans, manage the classroom and activities, and instruct the children.
Earning an associate's degree can provide many benefits. This degree can give many students a leg up against other potential job candidates, or it can pave the pathway for obtaining a bachelor's or master's degree. Many of the skills learned from an Associate Degree in Education, can also be integrated into the workplace, including time management, organization, interpersonal communications, problem solving, and creative or analytical thinking.
The tuition fees will vary for this program. Costs will depend on the field of study, length of program, and the institution. Interested students should contact the office of admissions directly.
Graduates of the program can find work teaching at a school district, daycare, preschool, church classroom, or other educational institutions. Some of the possible job options include becoming a counselor, preschool teacher, childcare worker, teacher's aide, daycare provider, mentor, or substitute teacher. With continued education, students can find work as a principal, professor, or superintendent.
At most institutions, students who live remotely can take advantage of distance learning modules and online classes. To get started, search for your program below and contact directly the admission office of the school of your choice by filling in the lead form.
