An associate degree often is earned in general areas of study that include the humanities, business, social science, science and technical fields. Credits earned in pursuit of an associate degree can be used toward obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

The study of computer networking often includes developing an understanding of the various computer systems used by businesses and other organizations. Students may also be exposed to the hardware and software involved in creating networks, as well as develop an understanding of the types of systems used in businesses.
