An associate degree is typically taken by students who have completed high school and who wish to pursue studies at a higher level. It is most commonly a two-year program with a generalized focus, though it may be tailored to a specific outcome.

What is an associate degree in arts? This degree program is taken by students who are interested in the arts and wish to receive a broad understanding of this topic. Courses my include art appreciation, architecture, poetry, literature and photography, as well as a grounding in the basics of math, social sciences and life sciences. Instruction is usually facilitated by professors with advanced degrees and may be a mixture of classroom, laboratory and online formats.

Students in this program may learn how to understand and synthesize a large amount of material, as well as develop successful study habits, skills useful in the furthering of their academic life. They may also gain insights into the arts community, which may be helpful in gaining employment after school.
