This course will prepare you for a career as a designer by ensuring you have the right mix of inside knowledge, practical skills, jewellery design industry links and the ability to develop and apply unique design ideas. Jewellery and object design requires finely honed skills and an extensive knowledge of metals, gemstones and other specialised materials, processes and equipment. You will develop your craft and acquire current digital design skills so you can construct and fabricate your ideas into market-ready forms. The program is supported by lecturers and technicians with industry experience and a wide network of contacts.
The Associate Degree of Design [Jewellery & Object Design] includes studies in Jewellery Design Studio, Object Design Studio, Design Concepts, Drawing (including Design Drawing or Technical Drawing), Digital Design, Visual Culture, Professional Practice, Silversmithing, Jewellery Fabrication, Design Enamelling, 3D Digital Modelling and a range of specialised contemporary units.
