The Theatre Department at Irvine Valley College is geared toward providing the student with a comprehensive theatre experience encompassing all aspects of acting, directing, design, and theatre production as well as an introduction to theatre history. Students may structure their own program to suit their personal goals and experience level through enrolling in a wide range of courses as well as through participating in the theatre department's highly acclaimed productions. Strong emphasis is placed on preparing and training theatre students to meet future goals of higher education in theatre or employment in the many facets of the entertainment industry.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the theatre arts, acting, or technical theatre program, students will be able to

Theatre Arts Courses
The theatre curriculum at Irvine Valley includes courses in acting, directing, theatre production and theatre design. Theatre students are encouraged to participate in a variety of theatrical performances, among them dramas, comedies and musical theatre. The Department of Theatre emphasizes the development of the many and various skills required in the theatre— including stagecraft, lighting, costuming, production and video production. The curriculum also includes courses in theatre appreciation, voice and diction, and singing.
Students in the Theatre Arts program have the opportunity to take classes from as well as be in productions guided by industry professionals who can guide the student toward discovering a new career path or enriching an existing goal of continued training and experience in the theatre arts.
