ICAO ENGLISH AND IFR ENGLISH

Flying Academy is providing:

  • ICAO English examination
  • ICAO Refresh course
  • IR Aviation English course

ICAO English

Currently, each pilot that is flying internationally must have a minimum level 4 of ICAO English. The exam must be done in an authorized organization. Next ICAO English examination is on:

  • 08.06.16 Prague
  • 25.06.16 Brno
  • 13.07.16 Prague
  • 23.07.16 Brno
  • 10.08.16 Prague
  • 20.08.16 Brno

*Individual examination dates can be arranged upon a request.

Validity of ICAO language proficiency

The recurrence of which one must undertake the ICAO English proficiency is given by the level achieved:

  • Level 4 – every 3 years
  • Level 5 – every 6 years
  • Level 6 - unlimited

ICAO language proficiency check The proficiency check consists of 3 parts:

  • Conversation and description [from aviation industry]
  • Listening to aviation communication – pilot must be able to answer the examiner’s questions
  • Reading and translation of article from manual, aviation regulation or aviation publication

Duration of check is approx. 30 min. The evaluation is done on the spot. Fee for ICAO language proficiency check: 106 EUR Fee for ICAO Refresh course 93 EUR In order to improve your Aviation English skills and reach a better results during the examination Flying Academy is organizing a refresh course in the morning prior to the exam. *All training fees are bound to the actual exchange rates of the local currency of the Flying Academy base where the training or a part of the training is provided.

IR Aviation English course

Prior to the practical examination (Skill Test) for the Instrument Rating IR(A) you have to pass a theoretical examination in IR Aviation English (according to the FCL.055 Language proficiency). Objective of the course: The goal is to improve the Aviation phraseology skills and gain necessary vocabulary for conducting the communication during the IFR flights. They will develop practical habits for using standard phraseology and the ability to understand broadcasts in cockpit environment. Learning outcomes and competences: Obtaining the level of knowledge required to pass the English exam for IFR pilots at the CAA. Prerequisites: The basic knowledge of English – speaking and grammar.
