Introduction
This AAT Access Award in Bookkeeping qualification will develop your understanding of the role of the bookkeeper. This qualification is suitable for students with no previous accounting experience but wishes to develop basic bookkeeping skills to improve their employability or progress in their current occupation. The completion of external examinations will measure achievement on your course. Your progress towards achieving the learning outcomes will be reviewed throughout the course. At the start of the course, you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals, i.e., progression to another course.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Understand financial transactions;
Process customer and supplier transactions;
Process receipts and payments;
Set up accounts;
Record bank and cash transactions;
Understand the role of the bookkeeper.
Excellent attendance of above 90% is expected from all students. The course fee includes the accreditation cost with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), examination fees, and some course materials. You will be required to cover the costs of any exam re-sits.
You will complete individual and group activities, and you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor.
