Program Description

The Theater program is designed for students who intend to continue their studies at a baccalaureategranting institution, for students who want to broaden their educations with theater electives, and for community members and students who want to participate in college theatrical performance groups. Each semester the Theater program presents two productions. We offer classes in Acting, Improvisation, Directing, Voice and Diction, Theater Appreciation, Stage Movement, Stagecraft, Stage Management, Stage Make-up, Technical Production, Combat and Audition. Students may pursue the Associate in Arts degree. College Theater includes StageWorks, which are fully designed productions, Actors’ Theatre in the Studio, productions using minimal design in order to focus on the acting process as an extension of the classroom, and Freestage, which is an exciting alternative performance arena emphasizing imaginative writing and directing, resourceful acting, and creative use of space. Interested actors are invited. Auditions are held at the beginning of each academic term. No experience is necessary and all ages are welcomed.
