Introduction
Anthropology is an academic discipline that cuts across multiple fields of study. It is the holistic study of humankind from biological, cultural, archaeological, linguistic, and applied perspectives.
Anthropology is a fascinating and enlightening subject, the study of which can give a greater understanding of humanity and history and cultural diversity. Understanding the origin and history of human beings is also essential to understand global cultures and communities.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
Examine the goals of the discipline of anthropology.
Evaluate the methods used in the discipline of anthropology.
Demonstrate an understanding of cultural diversity
Students planning to transfer to a university and further their anthropology study should prepare themselves with complementary courses. Anthropology is not intended to be a training program since professional anthropologists draw their experiences from various academic backgrounds and personal experiences. Anthropologists excel at integrating complex ideas about what it means to be human; they stimulate critical thinking about the human condition; and they encourage scholarly discourse among the variety of paradigms, challenging each other in the continuing search for scientific knowledge.
