It is important, not only as a subject in its own right, but also as an essential element in all other natural Science, Engineering and Technology. There is also a great deal of enjoyment and satisfaction to be derived from an understanding of the most recent development in Physics research. We study the AQA Physics A Syllabus: It provides a seamless transition to A level from previous studies and develops your interest and enthusiasm for Physics. This covers a wide range of topics from elementary particle physics to Newton's laws; from electrical circuits to gravitational fields. The course is split into a number of units, the AS units are covered in the first year and the A Level units in the second year. What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed? The focus of AQA AS Business is on small to medium-sized businesses operating within national markets. It covers the issues involved in a business start-up, such as research and planning, as well as the factors that determine success. It considers how established businesses might improve their effectiveness by making tactical decisions throughout the business. A Level Business builds on the AS units by considering more complex business scenarios and focusing on strategy. The course will be taught by the use of small group work, self-directed research and presentation, class discussion and lectures. All units taught in year one are assessed across two papers at the end of the year. Paper 1 is assessed through multiple choice questions, short answer questions and mini case study data response questions. Paper 2 is assessed by short answer questions and the use of a case study for data response questions. There is no course work option. What topics will I study? This two year course is designed to provide a smooth transition from GCSE Core/Additional Science and GCSE Chemistry courses and to interface with the needs of Higher Education courses. It provides an appreciation and understanding of important chemical principles which are fundamental to the understanding of the world in which we live. The course also encourages students to come to understand how scientists investigate scientific phenomena in their attempts to explain the world around us. Students develop their practical skills to complement their understanding of chemical concepts. The study of chemistry is useful in understanding other areas of science.
