The Biotechnology Associate Degree is a program within the Division of Natural & Health Sciences and is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the biomanufacturing industry. Students will develop a broad laboratory science-based background through courses focused in the life and chemical sciences, and will obtain industry-specific knowledge in the areas of quality control (QC), process development (PD), and upstream and downstream processing, all while following current, good manufacturing practices (cGMP). In addition, students will learn valuable laboratory techniques and instrumentation, and develop critical thinking skills. Upon successful completion of the program, students may enter the workforce directly as entry-level laboratory technicians or research assistants, or may transfer to a four-year university to continue their studies at the baccalaureate level. Quincy College offers an Associate’s degree in Business with a Major in Accounting. This is part of the Professional Programs Division. This program is Business focus and allows graduates the flexibility to obtain Accounting jobs or Managerial positions. Although it is primarily a business focus, we have had numerous students go into the Certified Public Accounting Discipline. Several are currently working for the Big four. The college also offers an Accounting certificate program. This program is very popular with students trying to get into a Masters program. Many colleges require an academic accounting background for entrance. The college offers a wide variety of courses. Our Accounting program mirrors four year Accounting major programs. We off Introductory and advanced accounting courses. The course selection goes from Bookkeeping to Fraud and Accounting IV courses. Accounting positions are in every aspect of the economy. They go from Private Industry to City, State, and Federal government. Salary ranges start at $25 an hour for Bookkeepers to $150 for consultants. A Quincy College graduate with an Accounting major can expect to get a salary of $25 to $35 dollars an hour. The Computer Science Program is a program that is designed to prepare students for a variety of entry level positions in a networked environment within the computer science industry, and to provide additional training or further advancement to those already employed in the computer science profession. The program design includes the core curriculum, a general computer science core, skills courses, and courses specific to the computer science areas. Students may choose to concentrate their studies in Computer Science Programming, or Networking. [+]

Computer and communication networks are critical parts of almost every organization. Quincy college offers both an associate’s degree and a certificate in Networking. These are the type of credential that is required for many types of technical positions. Our program incorporates the learning objective of two industry standard certifications (COMPTIA Network+ and Cisco CCENT). Some example positions include Telecommunications Equipment Installers and Repairers, Computer Support Specialists, and Network and Computer Systems Administrators. The job market is expected to grow for these type of positions (based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor). The range of median salary for these type of positions in 2014 was $50,380 per year to $75,790 per year ($24.22 per hour to $36.44 per hour). Certificate in Aquaculture

The focus of the program is on salt-water shellfish species such as oysters. Graduates of the certificate program may find employment on private farms, government hatcheries or begin their own aquaculture production. [+]

The Aquaculture Certificate Program is 25 semester hours of introductory courses in shellfish aquaculture and business management. Classes include a combination of hands-on practical experience, applied science and business courses. Students learn hands-on skills throughout the aquaculture practicum series such as water quality testing, system construction and maintenance, treatment, feeding, and breeding technology.
