Welcome to the College of Southern Idaho, one of the fastest growing educational institutions in the State of Idaho. A majority of our classrooms are equipped with the latest in instructional technology.

This expansion of hotels and restaurants throughout the world has increased the demand for qualified, knowledgeable employees who are ready to excel in the world of lodging, food service, tourism, and travel. The Hospitality Management Program at the College of Southern Idaho provides the perfect start for students looking for a competitive edge in the hospitality industry. We believe that the educational experience should include preparation and training for leadership roles and successful careers in the variety of career paths available in today’s rapidly growing and changing hospitality industry. The program includes a foundation of the basic philosophies and skills of the hospitality industry along with real world applications and “hands on” practices. Among the most important attributes of the successful professional in the hospitality industry are customer service, effective communication, creativity, flexibility, the ability to get along with others, and a good work ethic. Our goals in the program are to develop students as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and team players. The Hospitality Management Program at CSI uses materials from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association as well as the Manager First program from the National Restaurant Association. Students who successfully complete these courses earn globally recognized certificates from both associations, in addition to college credits applicable toward an Associates Degree. CSI’s hospitality courses are part of the Business department. The hospitality industry provides a wonderful direction for students seeking a career focus for their area of interest. With more than 200 different job opportunities, the $103.6 billion hospitality industry has a career to fit every interest. Hotels and restaurants need sales and marketing professionals, accountants, engineers, human resource specialists, meeting planners, chefs, security directors, and managers for every service department from front office to housekeeping. CSI’s Hospitality Management Program works with students to develop an educational path that’s right for them. We also participate with Walt Disney World and Cactus Petes Casino and Resort for in-depth internship programs. Advisory Committee A committee made up of hospitality industry professionals and experts consult with the CSI program's administration on a regular basis to ensure that the program meets quality excellence requirements as far as industry needs and requirements are concerned. Students majoring in physics at CSI can obtain an Associate of Science degree, and transfer to four-year institutions to complete their bachelors or other advanced degrees. Due to the fundamental nature of the study of physics, students majoring in physics have virtually unlimited academic and career options. From traditional physics subjects such as Newtonian mechanics, light and matter interactions, astronomy, cosmology, nuclear and condensed matter physics, to chemistry, biology, medicine, and all types of engineering, physicists have successfully pursued careers in such widely varying subjects as finance and sports training. The more you know about the rules of the universe, the more you can do with them. Mathematical concepts are employed wherever there are problems that involve quantity, structure, space, or change. Mathematicians generally use deductive reasoning, starting from axioms and definitions, to solve problems from business, industry, other sciences or from within mathematics itself. Although some jobs are open to mathematicians with a bachelor's degree, most require a graduate degree. Mathematicians typically find careers as actuaries, analysts, consultants, educators, programmers, or researchers. Environmental Technology students will specialize on ways to produce renewable energy in two main categories: Combustion and Electrical. Combustion fuels include biodiesel, ethanol, bio-gas and hydrogen. The electrical category includes solar, residential wind, geothermal and hydroelectricity. Additionally, students will have training in water: measurement, Law, and Quality. Water is an important aspect of a sustainable environmental stewardship. Why Environmental Technology at CSI? Join the emerging green energy revolution. Green collar jobs are rapidly making their way into the mainstream workforce. Whether you are interested in helping curb our appetite for foreign-produced oil, reducing your carbon footprint, gaining energy independence, or just think the technology is exciting - You are at the right place! The Environmental Technology program provides a broad curriculum in industrial electrical systems, co-generation, water resource management, solar, fuel cells, and the development of a skill set to position someone for a variety of jobs that are anticipated with the emergence of the green collar economy. Special Tools or Skills? The Environmental Technology program does not require students to purchase special tools. The program will employ both lecture and laboratory formats. Hands-on experience is critical for gaining skills necessary to be successful in the industry. A mechanical aptitude is a necessary skill. [-]
