UNISUL GLOBAL

UNISUL`s International Relations Office gathers all the international programs available at the University, in addition to being an entrepreneurial of alliances and partnerships, global networking, and internationalization of undergraduate and graduate students. There is an International Center, a benchmark in programs offered to foreign students and formal study of the Portuguese language, and an Exchange Office that works to create opportunities for academic exchange programs.

INTERNATIONAL CENTER

It aims to promote interaction between Brazilian teachers and students with foreigners on the University campus, to stimulate the multiculturalism, ensuring opportunities for academic integration between Brazilian and foreign communities.

Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners - Intensive and extensive courses, targeting foreigners who wish to learn the Portuguese language and get to know the Brazilian culture. There is an option of a Blended Program that combines virtual teaching of Portuguese, through Unisul Virtual platform PLUS classroom teaching. Therefore, students get a chance to experience the Language, Culture and Business in Brazil.

Customized Programs – Programs specially designed for Foreign Universities, focusing on different areas of teaching, in accordance to the project chosen by each institution, including Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture Studies, sightseeing attractions, and field trips.

Programs specially designed for Foreign Universities, focusing on different areas of teaching, in accordance to the project chosen by each institution, including Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture Studies, sightseeing attractions, and field trips. Unisul’s International Center also offers the possibility for international companies and universities to create their own programs as they wish, where the International Center will shape a program especially for the upcoming group. We customize the program so it can include courses for Portuguese Language and Brazilian culture learning, special courses in a foreign language, cultural activities, and technical visits, besides organizing the accommodation, transfer and internal logistics in the city. Courses taught in English for international students, undergraduation and graduation teachers and the community as a whole The subjects make part of the Extension Course on Languages, Culture and the Brazilian Socioeconomic Context. The course does not need to be fully completed. The students may take other subjects separately. The subjects are provided for all the students worldwide and are taught in the English language by skilled teachers. The subject’s topics vary from the Brazilian present days and on to universal affairs. Explicit economic globalization scenarios are issues discussed; also sustainability in tourism scenarios; mankind and its biological, social and cultural dimension; multiculturalism and cultural identity; consume and the consumers. Students, as prerequisite, must be fluent in English in order to take these courses (hearing, reading and writing). Syllabus International Economics in the Age of Globalization: focus in Brazil (3 credits) The course introduces the main debates about the "new" global economy and their implications for practice and policy. Analysis of the globalization process, in order to understand there implications, in the multiple aspects of socio-economical and political contemporary life and there repercussions on the corporations and States. Ethnicity and Society in the history and Culture of Brazil (3 credits) The course introduces discussions about race and ethnicity; Brazilian culture: Indian peoples and culture diversity; Africans and the slavocratic system; the European colonization on the 19th century. Nationalism and cultural identity on the 1940`s. The multiculturalism and the social differences. Brazilian identity and regional culture. Tourism Management and Environment in Brazil (3 credits) Concepts of tourism and environment. Professionalization of the activity. The world ranking of touristic destinations. The new wave of "the green era". Brazilian geographical regions. Natural touristic attractions throughout Brazil. Types of natural landscape that permit touristic activities. The touristic areas of Santa Catarina State and the marketing of the government. Sustainability of the natural patrimony in the tourism activity. Brazilian practical cases. Perceptions and definitions of tourism in Florianopolis. The favelas and the market opportunities in Brazil. Consumer Behavior (3 credits) Consumer and consumer behavior. Consumer behavior concepts. Consumer influences: cultural, individual and group. Psychological processes. Buying decision processes. Marketing strategies related. Brazilian practical cases. Cultural Anthropology with a Contemporary Cultural Studies Approach (3 credits) The course provides a general idea of Anthropology with emphasis on the Cultural Anthropology and the analysis of the cultural concepts impact on human behavior. The focus will get closer to some South Brazilians' human aspects. Intercultural Development for U.S. Students Abroad (3 credits) The course will introduce students to a number of trends, theories, concepts and strategies that will help them better understand and advance through their own process of intercultural development during their time abroad. Fundamentals of Marketing (3 credits) This course aims to provide students with an understanding of marketing theories and concepts, and to enable them to understand how these tools are used by firms from a variety of industries. Furthermore, the course seeks to provide students with an understanding of the role of marketing in society, key marketing techniques, and the relationship between marketing concepts and the world of business through the use of cases studies. Particular attention will be given to the decision making process in the areas of foreign market analysis, target identification, product planning, promotion and channels of distribution. The Students will be introduced to aspects of marketing, such as: Marketing Strategy, Promotion, Market Planning, Distribution, International Marketing, Market Segmentation, Services Marketing and Pricing. Principles of Entrepreneurship (3 credits) The profile of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship concepts, the entrepreneurial vision and the entrepreneur attitudes. Principles of Marketing, Marketing Mix, Market research methods, Market Segmentation, Marketing Positioning and Target market. Developing a new company, the reality of startups in Brazil, the characteristics of a startup and a B.P model for Startups. Principles of Management (3 credits) This course provides a comprehensive overview of management theory and practice, acquainting students with the discipline of management and its evolution, schools, and theories. The content of the course covers strategic planning and decision-making, organizing and managing human resources, communicating, motivating and leading, management control and operations management. The course integrates classical and modern managerial concepts with an array of real-world cases studies. Language and Brazilian Culture to the world The Portuguese Language and Brazilian Culture for Foreigners Program supports students interested in learning Portuguese as a second language and getting to know more about the Brazilian Culture, especially Santa Catarina and its natural beauty. The CLPCB goes beyond classroom. Throughout the program, students participate in assorted learning activities such as excursions, directed researches, courses, events among other activities that comprise the country culture and language knowledge. Students attend classes with qualified teachers, both to achieve Portuguese language proficiency as learning technical linguistic terms used in different fields of knowledge. Target audience The program supports students interested in learning Portuguese as a second language. For regular admission (short or long-term program) is imperative that participants have a student visa (study or research). The visa may be obtained from the Brazilian Embassy, in your country of origin. Blended Program The Unisul Virtual’s Blended Program of Brazilian Portuguese and Culture introduces the student to the Portuguese language spoken and written in Brazil, according to the skills and competencies of the levels A1, A2 and B1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and prepares students for Celpe-Bras proficiency test (official test of proficiency in Portuguese, in Brazil). The curriculum is especially designed for undergraduate and graduate foreign students and researchers, who are coming to Brazil to live in a university environment and want to take extension, master or PhD courses in the country, or integrate research teams. The program offers five learning units, and the student can choose which and how many attend. After all, you can participate in intensive presentialcourses during summer or winter vacations. Course Curriculum The Learning Units (LUs) have 45h duration and cost US$ 245.00 each one.
