Introduction

About Us

TasTAFE is the largest vocational education and training provider in Tasmania. With 13 campuses, we operate effectively throughout the State and offer more than 400 courses and qualifications.

Being Government owned brings many benefits to our students such as a modern campus network, fully registered teachers and contemporary training facilities. To be registered by the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board our TAFE teachers have to meet higher standards than trainers in other organisations. Our managers and support staff also have the highest expectations placed upon their work.

All staff members, regardless of whether they are teachers, corporate or support staff believe in the One TAFE/One Team philosophy, and are focused upon the student or customer.

TasTAFE also has an ongoing commitment to meeting Tasmanian community expectations and the needs of all of our students. We recognise that studying can be challenging when you are an adult as you have to balance all of the other demands upon your time. We understand those challenges and make sure we are flexible enough for you to study in your time and progress at a pace that suits you. Everyone who works in TasTAFE has been a student too. We understand that learning should be enjoyable and rewarding, in fact we think that most of the time it should be fun!

Given that our focus is upon education and training for work, we stay connected with business in Tasmania. We prepare people to take up employment, to gain a promotion or to change careers. We can also provide you with the skills and know-how to start your own business and to be your own boss.

We believe very strongly in our values and see our role as being to engage with, deliver to, create opportunities for and assist businesses, industry and employers and individuals to meet their varied training needs.
