Our Service, Our difference

At Hunter TAFE we are committed to providing high quality vocational education and training in the Hunter and Central Coast Region. State of the art facilities, combined with a team of highly qualified industry experienced staff, guarantee our students receive the highest level of training.

The Hunter Region, NSW, Australia is an exciting, creative and vibrant region located just 2 hours north of Sydney.

With quality education options and a relaxed lifestyle it’s a great place to live while you’re studying.

Situated on the coast, the Hunter has great beaches, lakes, bays, vineyards, national parks and heritage areas. It has a strong arts and creative scene, vibrant cafes, bars and restaurants and interesting shopping. It also has its own airport with daily connections to Australia's capital cities.

With NSW's second largest city, Newcastle, as its capital, a quality lifestyle, world class education options, renowned research facilities and a complex economy, the hunter offers all the services of a metropolitan area but with the cost advantages only a region can deliver.

Why Study Here?

The Hunter region is a relaxed, safe and clean community, with crime statistics much lower than the larger cities in Australia. As one of Australia’s most liveable areas, The Hunter's living costs are lower for food, transport and accommodation when compared with large cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane.

The Hunter region is famous for its great climate, spectacular surf beaches, art galleries, cafes, restaurants, wineries and diverse shops and markets. It is home to thousands of international students who enrol at Hunter TAFE and University of Newcastle.

You’ll also find some of Australia’s largest businesses in the Hunter, providing the perfect environment for students wishing to incorporate real world work opportunities into their academic studies.

Education

At the heart of the Hunter is Newcastle - one of the world’s most beautiful coastal cities, and home to the thousands of international students who enrol at Hunter TAFE, with over 55,000 enrolled students across 15 campuses and 600 courses and the University of Newcastle.

The regions hosts over 15,000 International and Multi-cultural students who enjoy the area’s cosmopolitan lifestyle, without the stress of more expensive Australian cities. Friends meet in the regions many cafes and bars, and relax in the area’s natural surroundings. It’s the perfect balance of study and lifestyle.

Live

As well as being an excellent business and investment location, the Hunter offers a lifestyle that is difficult to match.

The Region offers excellent educational and medical facilities, a regional centre for the arts, first-rate dining and entertainment as well as every opportunity for the amateur and professional sportsperson.

It has an extensive array of scenic parks, pristine beaches and waterways, superb cultural, educational, recreational and entertainment amenities. It also has a cost of living below that of the major metropolitan areas across the country.

What do our students say about us?

“My friend studied in Newcastle and he was always telling me about his positive memories of Hunter TAFE. This was one of the reasons behind my decision to come here. However, the most influential factor was Hunter TAFE’s international reputation for outstanding teaching quality.

Newcastle is an amazing city. It is a great blend of a smaller urban area with virtually all the facilities of a big city plus if you get really desperate Sydney is only 2 hours down the freeway or railway. People are friendly, open-minded, gorgeous architecture, public transport is good and some of the most stunning scenery is within a few minutes drive. Newcastle also is a relaxed city. The cost of living is very low and if you are working in town, you would have the choice of living in a coastal area, a greener area, or a lovely village, all within a reasonable distance”
