System Administration and Management Programs

The maintenance and deployment of computer systems in production environments requires significant effort. This program distills decades of experience into operational principles that apply across technologies. It is intended for students who will provide planning, sizing, designing, deployment and maintenance of information technology infrastructures ranging from operating systems (Windows or UNIX), and storage systems. It will equip them with the fundamentals of building and maintaining IT infrastructures that support applications. This program covers the essentials for effective administration and maintenance of applications’ operating systems, networks and security. It also considers the need for IT system documentation, policies and procedures and the education and support of the users of these systems. In this program, students are prepared to become Unix Systems Administrators, Microsoft Windows Systems Administrators, Microsoft Certified Technology Experts, CISCO Certified Network Associates, and similar positions.

Students can choose from any of the following concentrations under this program:

  • Oracle Solaris System Administration
  • Linux System Administration
  • CISCO Networking

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

Acceptance into Pacific Institute of Technology is competitive and all students seeking admission must meet all applicable requirements. In order to be considered for admission, all applicants must:

  • Complete and submit an admissions application along with the required non-refundable fee;
  • Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or Permanent Residence status; or for foreign students,
  • Must have an approved International Student Form (Form I-20) under the M-1 Visa category;
  • Provide proof of a U. S. high school diploma, GED, or the recognized equivalent.
  • Interview with the college’s admissions officer (waived for international students);
  • Possess basic keyboard skills (A minimum of 35 WPM is required);
  • Pass the PIT computer-based Computer Literacy Test (CLT); and,
  • Complete and sign an Enrollment Agreement.
